Veneers are a great way to create a beautiful smile that you will be proud of and will last for years. Dental veneers San Diego are commonly used in cosmetic dentistry to improve the color and shape of your existing teeth. Veneers can be made from a resin composite or porcelain material. However porcelain is recommended because it mimics your natural teeth better then resin by the way it reflects light and resists stains. A dental veneer is a custom made thin shell of porcelain that is bonded directly to the tooth. It generally covers the front and top edge of the tooth.

Your initial veneers La Jolla visit/consultation would involve a full evaluation and discussion of your goals and options. Here are some of the items that would be considered before making any final treatment decisions:

 

 • Height & Width for correct proportions

 • The gum line would be evaluated.  We want to see a consistent height of the gums from tooth to tooth without

 • The amount of veneer translucency is an important part of appearing natural

San Diego Porcelain Veneers

1.) I have chips from grinding my teeth.  Am I a good candidate for San Diego porcelain veneers?

Yes, veneers can restore your teeth to look like they originally did or better.  Veneers can also be used to reshape and make your teeth look straighter in just 1 week!

 

2.) Do you have to shave down my tooth?

Not if we are closing a gap or covering stains. If you want to straighten your teeth with veneers then removing some enamel is necessary.

 

3.) If I want only 1 or 2 veneers can you match the shade of my other teeth?

Yes, I send my patients to my local laboratory in San Diego for a professional shade evaluation by the ceramist who makes the veneer.

 

4.) I have bleached my teeth many times but they are never white enough for me. Are veneers a good option?

Yes, with San Diego porcelain veneers we can cover the tooth with a very thin veneer and give you a very bright white smile.

 

5.) Can you bleach my veneers?
No, the shade of porcelain veneers cannot be changed once they are cemented on your teeth. This is why it its best to bleach your natural teeth first that are not veneered, and then have your veneers made to match.

 

6.) Are veneers strong and how often do I need to replace them?

Veneers are very strong. If you use them normally they can last indefinitely.  However, people who have damaged their natural teeth from grinding can just as easily damage their veneers. In this case a night guard is always recommended.

Accelerated orthodontics

I am excited to tell you about all the techniques available in my office to straighten and improve your teeth in just one week. Since my San Diego/La Jolla office offers so many services under one roof I am able to offer my patients unique treatment options to meet their needs and busy schedules. Orthodontic brackets or Invisalign trays are not an option for many people who are self conscious of anything visible. Since I see many celebrates and working professional I am used to treating patients with time restrictions and limitation on what types of treatment they can have. A consultation will be necessary to see if you are a candidate for these services. Not all cases can be completed in such a short amount of time but dramatic improvements can always be achieved.

There are many different ways to improve your smile. Cosmetic bonding is a simple and affordable way to make cosmetic and structural changes to your teeth. The focus of my practice is cosmetic dentistry and I have been utilizing bonding to make changes to the shape and color of the front teeth for over 30 years.

Most of my practice in my San Diego/La Jolla office involves restorative dentistry, much of which is comprised of making crowns and bridges. There are many different technological advances in materials available for creating crowns and bridges. It is important to know all your options. Often I see ill fitting restorations that need to be replaced due to open margins that allow bacteria to get under the crown and cause decay. To avoid this I use only the best materials and technology. My crowns are made with digital computer software that creates a perfect fitting crown. It is also important to make sure the tooth is prepped with a clear and precise margin. I take my time and pay attention to every detail so my patients will have beautiful fitting crowns that last for many years.

My bridges are made with the same materials and technology that I use with crowns. A bridge can be fabricated to replace a missing tooth as an alternative to a dental implant. (Please see the adjacent photos.) I might recommend a bridge if you are missing one or more teeth with adjacent teeth that can support it. If a space or gap is left untreated the remaining teeth can rotate, shift, or super erupt. In some cases this can cause a bad bite and lead to Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
