Treat Your Teeth Right – Healthy Foods for the Mouth

Most of us have heard before what items are not good for you to eat – candy, sodas, acidic foods, etc. However, you don’t often hear what foods are good for your teeth. As a San Diego family dentist, I proudly provide a list of some of the foods that are most beneficial to oral health. […]

Prevention of White Spot Lesions in Orthodontics

As you might expect it is incredibly important to keep your teeth and mouth clean while having your teeth straightened with braces. As a San Diego orthodontist, a common problem that I see is the build up of decalcified enamel, which can appear to be a white spot lesion on the tooth. These lesions can be particularly bothersome to those who recently had braces removed because the teeth can appear spotty and uneven in color. […]

People Have More Trust in Their Dentist Than Their Doctor

Do you have more trust in your doctor than your dentist? How do you think the general public would respond to this question? The idea of a trusted family doctor with loads of advice to hand out may be a thing of the past. A recent study by Bray Leino revealed that 88 percent of people surveyed confirmed that they have a very high degree of trust in their dentist, even greater than in their doctor. The poll conducted in 2012 also uncovered that 19.7 percent of people value their relationship with their dentist, while only 9.9 percent value their relationship with their doctor. This is nearly double! As a San Diego cosmetic dentist, I proudly develop trust-based relationships with each of my patients. […]

Can Music Relieve Dental Anxiety in Patients?

I have over 30 years of experience as a dentist, and in my career I have seen many patients with dental phobias and anxieties. These fears can be quite common. Many dental providers and myself have began to offer environments with television, music, calming décor, aromatherapy, etc. in order to help patients relax. The goal is to help patients achieve a level of comfort where they can receive the necessary treatment without the dental visit causing unnecessary stress. I strive to ensure that patients always have the most positive experience possible when they visit my San Diego office for cosmetic or orthodontic treatments. […]

As you explore options for your orthodontic treatment, questions are going to arise. Here are several types of patients that are a good fit for short term braces procedures. […]

Lingual Braces vs. Traditional Braces

When most people hear the term “Braces Inside the Mouth” they automatically think traditional, front-facing braces, but this leaves out another popular form of braces, lingual braces. Many patients ask why they should choose one form of braces treatment versus another, so today we wanted to answer some common questions in regards to lingual and traditional braces that may help guide you towards your decision.
