“Dr. George is AMAZING!!!!!!! I came to him with the worst TMJ. I had extreme locking on both sides and my bite was so open it was unreal. I live in Arizona so I was very hesitant to come out to San Diego for treatment, but I am so glad I did. I got braces, botox, and ultra sound therapy. I now have my perfect smile back and free of TMJ symptoms. I can finally eat and sleep normally!”
TMJ/TMD can be particularly frustrating for patients who experience severe jaw locking, pain, difficulty eating, changes in their bite, or problems sleeping. Complex cases may require looking beyond the jaw joint alone and evaluating the bite, muscles, joint function, and other contributing factors.
One of our patients, Faith P., traveled from Arizona to our San Diego office seeking help for a particularly difficult TMJ condition. She described extreme locking on both sides of her jaw and a bite that had become dramatically open.
Rather than describing her experience for her, we would like to share her review in her own words:
Faith’s Review
Faith’s treatment incorporated several different modalities based upon her individual clinical findings. Her experience demonstrates why persistent or complicated TMJ symptoms deserve a comprehensive evaluation rather than assuming that there is only one treatment approach.
For patients experiencing jaw locking, pain, clicking or popping, difficulty chewing, muscle discomfort, or significant changes in their bite, a comprehensive TMJ/TMD evaluation or second opinion may help identify contributing factors that have not previously been addressed.
After more than 40 years of treating TMJ/TMD patients, George Georgaklis, DDS continues to evaluate both local patients and those who travel to San Diego with complex TMJ problems or for second opinions.
