Proudly Offering Metal-Free Crowns and Fillings
Mercury is a toxic metal that is used in amalgam fillings and crowns. In 1980 the American Dental Association admitted that mercury is toxic, and it is released into the blood stream by amalgam materials. However, today only 1 in 2 dentists in the US are mercury free.
Dr. George’s practice has been mercury free and metal free since 1985.
Although many dentists have argued against the use of mercury, it has been used by dentists for fillings since 1830, and is still used today primarily for economic reasons. However, technological advancements in the last 25 years have made available composite (BPA-Free) fillings that are affordable and durable. The dental industry has still not completely made the transition to composites, but specialists such as Dr. George have the capability to offer patients this safer and healthier option.
Metal Alloy crowns and fillings contain five metals mercury, copper, tin, zinc and silver all of which are toxic in the bloodstream of organic organisms such as humans. These toxins make the use of amalgam crowns and fillings a poor choice compared to composites. We promise to only use metal free materials in your mouth and to bring a holistic approach to your dental health. In fact, Dr. George removes and replaces amalgam fillings with new composites on a daily basis. The health of your mouth is integrated with the your overall wellness and is an important part of the body system.
Metal free crowns and fillings are a crucial part of holistic dentistry. If you would like to learn more about metal-free crowns and fillings or schedule an appointment please call our dental office today. We look forward to helping you achieve your dental health goals!
