Hidden Braces for Adults
Lingual braces or “invisible braces,” as they are commonly referred to, are exactly what the name implies, a form of braces that are hidden from plain sight because they are placed on the backside of a patient’s teeth (braces behind the teeth). This cosmetic feature sets lingual braces apart as the only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic therapy. To help you decide which type of treatment to pursue, the following is an explanation of how treatment is performed with lingual braces.
First, you will come into the office for a consultation, at which Dr. George will examine your teeth and discuss treatment options in detail. It is extremely important to Dr. George that all patients are informed so that they can be pleased with their decisions regarding treatments. If we decide to move forward with lingual braces, our team will work with you to set appointment dates and finalize insurance details.
At your first Iclinical appointment, we will take an impression of your teeth using a plastic mold. The impression will be a blueprint for creating customized brackets for each of your teeth. Once the brackets have been prepared, you will attend a second appointment, andwe will seciure the brackets and wire. Pressure on the wire will gently move teeth into correct position during your treatment.
You will then come in periodically for adjusments and new wire. Treatment time will be dictated based on your specific case, and Dr. George will let you know the predicted timeframe.
