Do you have more trust in your doctor than your dentist? How do you think the general public would respond to this question? The idea of a trusted family doctor with loads of advice to hand out may be a thing of the past.

A recent study by Bray Leino revealed that 88 percent of people surveyed confirmed that they have a very high degree of trust in their dentist, even greater than in their doctor. The poll conducted in 2012 also uncovered that 19.7 percent of people value their relationship with their dentist, while only 9.9 percent value their relationship with their doctor. This is nearly double! As a San Diego cosmetic dentist, I proudly develop trust-based relationships with each of my patients.

Lastly, the poll revealed that 76.4 percent of people follow the advice of their dentist to get regular check-ups. It is encouraging to see that the public is placing such high value on dental services and respect the dentists that are providing these services. In our modern culture, it seems more and more individuals are waiting to see a doctor until there is a problem. However, this research supports the idea that people are listening to the message of prevention coming from their dentist.

I would like to respond to this study by saying that I have an extremely high regard for my patients and want to thank each of you for allowing me to help you achieve your dental goals. Additionally, I want to reinforce the idea of preventative measures such as flossing and brushing. It is extremely important to take care of your teeth.

However, if you do encounter dental problems or if your perfectly healthy teeth are not aligned properly then cosmetic or orthodontic treatments may be ideal for you. Please call or visit my San Diego, La Jolla dental office for a consultation. We look forward to helping you attain the smile of your dreams
